Who and What is Vine of David?

Vine of David is a publishing arm of First Fruits of Zion that specializes in early Messianic Judaism and the development of Messianic liturgical resources. The mission of Vine of David is to reveal Yeshua as the light to the nations and as the glory of the people of Israel. Whereas First Fruits of Zion focuses primarily on proclaiming the Torah and its way of life, Vine of David efforts are focused on the argument for Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel and the creation of resources for the maturing Messianic Jewish movement.

Vine of David Name

"Vine of David" is a phrase taken from apostolic-era literature where it is used as a reference to the Davidic dynasty and the Messiah. The Didache's prescribed blessing for wine is, "We thank You, our Father, for the holy vine of Your servant David." The vine is evocative of both Yeshua who declared himself to be the true vine and the Messianic Era when every man will sit under his own vine and fig tree.

Vine of David Logo

The Vine of David logo depicts a crown (representing keter) intersected by the letter "yod," which is both the first letter in the name of HaShem and the first letter in the name of Yeshua. According to Jewish mysticism, the letter yod represents the first vessel of God's expression to receive the light emanating from God. This vessel was "in the beginning" with God. The tip of the Yod reaches to the keter, and the bottom rests on the arch of the earth, bridging the distance between heaven above and earth below.

Authors and Translators

Vine of David authors are Jewish believers from previous generations and First Fruits of Zion and Vine of David staff writers who help to interpret their work. The translators for Vine of David include volunteers, contractors and staff members who collaborate in the labor of love of translating the works of early Jewish believers and liturgical sources from their original languages to English.  

Contributors and Consultants

Several volunteer contributors and consultants within today's Messianic Jewish movement make the work of Vine of David possible. Acquiring, cataloging and publishing the otherwise lost writings of Messianic teachers from the past requires volunteer efforts from a wide group of interested and committed individuals. Special thanks to Jorge Quiñónez for the original work of researching, collecting, and archiving the works of Jewish believers from the nineteenth century.
