Help resurrect the voices of the Messianic pioneers

What is Legacy Giving?

Imagine that you are standing in front of a deep well of fresh, cool water. You are parched and thirsty, but "you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?" (John 4:11).

Though the water is right in front of you, it might as well be on another continent. If you were thirsting to death, how much would you give for a bucket and rope?

There is a deep well of living water in front of us, but it has been locked away from millions of Jews and Christians. That well of water is the literary heritage of Messianic Judaism: Hebrew Gospel studies, apologetics from Messianic rabbis, Chasidic teachings of Jewish believers, the Messianic Siddur and Machzor, Messianic Jewish history, stories, testimonies, and teachings that connect believers with the past and build a bridge to the future of Messianic Judaism.

But most of this pre-holocaust wisdom and spiritual wealth is written in Hebrew, German, Yiddish, and other eastern European languages and presented in genres of Jewish learning and logic which are largely incomprehensible to most modern readers. The Messianic Jewish heritage has been forgotten in old European libraries and remains completely inaccessible to  English readers. It remains like water at the bottom of a deep well from which no one can drink.

Vine of David was created to draw spiritual water out from those depths. Our goal is to collect these lost writings, transcend the language barrier and make the living water of early Messianic Judaism available to English readers.

Here is what we do

  • Collect the literature and history of early Messianic Jewish pioneers
  • Translate the literature of Messianic Judaism and early liturgical sources
  • Create prayer books and liturgical materials for use in Messianic Judaism
  • Produce books at the highest standard of quality for the future of Messianic Judaism

Here's how we do it

Vine of David recruits competent translators, scholars, writers, and editors who share our passion for bringing these works to English readers. At the launch of this ministry (2009), we already have five translators and a team of editors, designers, volunteers and writers in America and Israel working to produce Messianic literature that will serve English reading Messianic Judaism for generations to come.

Unfortunately, the market for Vine of David works is too narrow to support the cost of the work, research, and publication. Without the generous help of donors who share our mission and vision, this literature would disappear into obscurity.

Become a Partner

Everyone can be a part of preserving our Messianic heritage, and become a part of that heritage:

  • Dedicate a book in honor or memory of a loved one. All dedications are in perpetuity.
  • Dedicate a book or series in honor of a congregation or community.
  • Be acknowledged as a donor in an individual book.
  • Fund a book project anonymously.

If you would like to contribute by underwriting, sponsoring, or co-sponsoring a Vine of David project and would like to make a contribution with a specific name-dedication, please contact us directly at www.vineofdavid.org/contact

Work the Vineyard

Resurrecting the voices of the past is hard work. We have ambitious goals, but we are a small staff with limited resources. That's why we need your help. We need volunteer translators and copy editors, not to mention generous donors who will catch the vision and help us bring these works to fruition. Come labor in the Vine of David vineyard with us as we look toward that coming kingdom when each man will sit under his own vine and fig tree.
